bike ride

Saturday June 4th, a good day for a ride. Ivan our leader, Ralph, Laurel and I. We left from Ralph's and arrived back after 58 kms of blood, sweat and tears. Well actually, there wasn't really any blood and I didn't see any tears, but I provided an awful lot of sweat. Anytime Ivan (the Machine) is leading the way, you're guaranteed a tough workout.

We rode across Richmond to the Canada Line bridge where we crossed the Fraser River into Vancouver near Cambie Street.

Rest stop on Heather Street.

In the forest on the UBC Endowment Lands.

Overlooking Georgia Strait, just below UBC. Still all in one piece.

Hard to believe that about two million people live very close by.

Lunch stop near the beach on Spanish Banks. Great view of the beach and the North Shore.

Lunch always tastes good when you're cycling.
Laurel and Ralph probably planning a revolt against our leader. We had no idea how far we were cycling when we started out. This was our first cycle of the year of any distance so we were not in great shape.

Back on the trail. You can see Ivan up ahead, in the striped shirt, leading us.

A nice view of the Vancouver skyline.

Team meeting.

Lots of people were out enjoying the sunshine and getting ready to watch the Canucks Stanley Cup finals game downtown at 6 PM against Boston. The Canucks won 3-2 in overtime to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The view as we rode across the Burrard Street bridge into downtown.

A view of the Burrard Street bridge from the north side of False Creek.

We took the Canada Line from Vancouver to Richmond.

Laurel leaving Bridgeport Station. We're back in Richmond with about 6 kms to go.

Ralph crossing Westminster Highway at Shell Road.

Waiting for our fearless leader for the final leg of the journey.
