a room with a view

This is the entrance to the new Vancouver Convention Centre.

Inside the convention centre.

Across the water to North Vancouver.

Snow for skiing.

Canada Place.

Vancouver.

Float plane landing and the Seabus crossing to North Vancouver.

I attended two seminars at the Vancouver Convention Centre in the past week. The view is fantastic. If you're booking a convention, have it here.

Kirstin left this morning for Ottawa to escape the snow. Shannon, Jessica and Kirsten drove her to the airport.

what happened?

What a difference a day makes. Snow in November in Ladner is unusual.

defenceless

Our backyard fence blew down in the big wind  last night.

Our backyard willow tree has grown a lot since Bob and Joe gave it a huge trim back in January. It looks a little lop sided because it is blowing in the wind.

remembrance day bike ride

I rode from our house to Murray and Beth's house. Nice ride along the dike and then through Watershed Park; about 20 k. Just a little rain when I left the trees in the park. Rode back home in the truck with Laurel who was visiting there.

pita for the people: part ll - the finished product

After receiving hundreds of requests for pictures of the finished product, here are two photos of my wholewheat pita creation. Tastes good but I still need to perfect my technique. Would like to be able to generate more of a pocket in the pita and have it less bready. Oh well, back to the cutting board.

laurel's hegemony

On the afternoon of Thursday Nov 4th, Laurel destroyed our beautiful laurel hedge with the help of her son Brett and a rented chainsaw. Kirstin and I miss the green and privacy. No more nude sunbathing or reflective afternoons. No buffer from the hubbub of the surrounding farmland with wild farmers on their tractors and combines. We will now have to lock ourselves in a bathroom in order to achieve some higher level of peace and tranquillity.

Pita for the People

Gordo's Tuesday night baking class. Whole wheat pita.

Grandma's 82nd BD

Joan and James and Duncan invited us for a birthday bash for Grandma on Sat. Nov 6th. And Grandma even showed up in person. Healthy pizza, great salad and carrot cake with big candles. Grandma had trouble generating enough windpower to blow out the candles.
