chicken girl

Kerri and Piper off to the chicken house.

Piper, the apprentice chicken tenderer.

I wonder how many eggs we'll get today?.

Will she be a vet? Or will she follow in her Mom's footsteps at KFC?

Dogs, you're not helping.

This is why chicken farming is the best. Just pick'em up and put 'em where you want 'em.

Now let's see you try this with a bull.

No poop on our tent, please.
A bird's eye view.

Everything's going to be OK.

Tending her flock.

Piper needs to grow some feathers.

Chicken girl, born free.

future accountant dane in his office

It's good to see you again this year. It's hard to believe another tax season has rolled around already.

Hmm... your file has to be here somewhere.

Let's see if I can remember how to turn on this new calculator my staff bought for me.

Do you really expect me to believe that your honeymoon trip to Hawaii was a business trip?

.
I hardly know how to say this... but I think you're bankrupt.

Of course I think I'm worth $250 an hour. I have a family to support, you know.

I want you to level with me... what exactly is you marital status? And whose children are they?

I don't feel it's fair for you to blame me for the fact that you owe $50,000 in income taxes

.

What, you're not going to pay my bill?

off to saskatchebush

Left for Saskatchebush Wednesday June 29th at 3pm. We were delayed 3 1/2 hours by a mudslide about 30 kms west of Hope. Had to detour across the Fraser River via Highway 7. This is the Fraser River as we're sitting in bumper to bumper traffic.

Blurry picture, but shows some of the westbound traffic tie up on the east side of Hope.

Finally arrived at Laurel's Mom and Dad's in Creston at 3:45 am Thursday morning - almost a 13 hour trip. Spent Thursday with Henry and Shirley and then headed out again to Saskatchebush about 8:30 am Friday July 1st. Shirley put on her Canada T-shirt to celebrate Canada's 144th birthday.

Stopped at Tim Horton's in Fernie but being July 1st, everyone had the same idea.

Here's the Timmy's line up as proof. I like the mountains in the background. Fernie is sure a lot nicer place than it was in the 60's when I used to go there on school sports trips

Mountains at Fernie. I decided to take pictures of mountains.

Fernie.

At Fernie.

Tried to get a big picture of the telephone pole and a mountain got in the way.

Might be in Alberta, can't remember.

june 19th father's day

Joan and Linsey. Joan organized dessert at Mom and Dad's in the evening on Father's Day. We were just missing Tyler and Maryrose, Brett, Kerri and Bob and their farmhands.

Kirstin, Mom and Tatiana.

The Fathers.

The Mothers. Well, one anyways.
Cleanup crew. (Linsey seems to have been everywhere, that evening.)

bike ride

Saturday June 4th, a good day for a ride. Ivan our leader, Ralph, Laurel and I. We left from Ralph's and arrived back after 58 kms of blood, sweat and tears. Well actually, there wasn't really any blood and I didn't see any tears, but I provided an awful lot of sweat. Anytime Ivan (the Machine) is leading the way, you're guaranteed a tough workout.

We rode across Richmond to the Canada Line bridge where we crossed the Fraser River into Vancouver near Cambie Street.

Rest stop on Heather Street.

In the forest on the UBC Endowment Lands.

Overlooking Georgia Strait, just below UBC. Still all in one piece.

Hard to believe that about two million people live very close by.

Lunch stop near the beach on Spanish Banks. Great view of the beach and the North Shore.

Lunch always tastes good when you're cycling.
Laurel and Ralph probably planning a revolt against our leader. We had no idea how far we were cycling when we started out. This was our first cycle of the year of any distance so we were not in great shape.

Back on the trail. You can see Ivan up ahead, in the striped shirt, leading us.

A nice view of the Vancouver skyline.

Team meeting.

Lots of people were out enjoying the sunshine and getting ready to watch the Canucks Stanley Cup finals game downtown at 6 PM against Boston. The Canucks won 3-2 in overtime to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The view as we rode across the Burrard Street bridge into downtown.

A view of the Burrard Street bridge from the north side of False Creek.

We took the Canada Line from Vancouver to Richmond.

Laurel leaving Bridgeport Station. We're back in Richmond with about 6 kms to go.

Ralph crossing Westminster Highway at Shell Road.

Waiting for our fearless leader for the final leg of the journey.
