Wallace, Idaho was our home for five days in September during our bike camp. Wallace is located about 45 minutes east of Coeur D'Alene, not too far from the Montana border. It's nestled in a mountain valley and was at one time known as the Silver Capital of the World. In the last 125 years, 1.2 billion troy ounces of silver were mined out of the surrounding hills. The Great Fire of 1910 destroyed one third of the town. Buildings were rebuilt with brick. All the buildings in the downtown are on the US National Registry of Historic Places. Laurel and I really enjoyed our time as Wallace residents and hope to return sometime.

| This building is the local police station. They seem to have an exercise yard within the building because that is a guard standing in the little room on top. |
